INDVIDUAL PROJECT - ‘A Guide- Dog Puppy in Training’

For part of the BC1005 module we all have to make an individual documentary on a subject of our own choice. To begin with I was thinking about making a short documentary about ‘The Influences Teenage Magazines have on Young Girls’. But after a great deal of thought I have decided to abandon that idea for two reason mainly one because there isn’t really that much I could film for it, but also the other idea I have I feel has slightly more potential and could be a little more interesting for me and the viewers.



I have chosen to make a short documentary / factual programme about ‘Guide Dog Puppies in Training’. The reason I decided to go with this idea is because I have had some involvement in helping train a guide dog puppy, but also because I want to make people aware that training a guide dog takes a lot of hard work and patience from both a volunteer puppy walker and the puppy himself.
The past weekend I began filming for this programme, getting different shots of the puppy and his puppy walker in training, the puppy on his free run and an interview with a volunteer puppy walker. Although I have done filming before I’m not really that confident with using a camera, but this weekend I was happy to go out and get some general shots and although I don’t think my camera work is fantastic, I do feel I have got some creative shots that will be usable and entertaining to include within my programme.

My aim is to make this an informal style factual programme using hand-held camera shots and just make it light-hearted.
Now that I have some footage to begin working with all I have to do now is begin editing it together.
